Jeffery Spoon Head Coach

SWIM COACHING EXPERIENCE: I am finishing my 14 year as the head swim coach for Oak Ridge High School. During this time, I have taken swimmers and divers to Austin for 12 state meets. Each year, Oak Ridge has improved in district, region, and state finishes. Prior to Oak Ridge coaching, I was an assistant swim coach for The Woodlands High School for seven years. Under the mentoring of Coach Kent Kirchner, I was able to develop the knowledge to understand swimming mechanics and how to help improve athletes. I have been a summer league swim coach for The Woodlands Waves, Oak Ridge Otters, and Atascociate Forest. All teams have given me the opportunity to work with swimmers age 5 to 18 with abilities at all levels. I am a Texas Ironman finisher along with a variety of sprint, olympic, and half-ironman triathlons. I have finished 13 Houston and The Woodlands marathons. PHILOSOPHY: Athletes need guidance, motivation, and someone who will recognize their abilities and push them to perform “their best”. Motivation for one person may look completely different for another. The most important factor is rapport--the relationship between the swimmer and the coach. PERSONAL: My wife of over 13,140 days is Debbie Spoon. We have seven children, three sons-in-law and seven grandchildren. Children are; Jeff, Jr., Ross, Morgan, Casey, Samantha, Keeley, and Carson. Son-in-laws are; David Lund, Jason Clair, and Brian Smith. Grandchildren are; Robyn, Peyton, Carly, Tristan, Grayson, Scout, and Summer Berkley (aka Summer Sooner by her grandfather only).

Keeley Clair

Hey there! I’m Keeley Clair, and my swimming journey started as an Oak Ridge Otter, where I spent many years diving into everything the sport has to offer. My love for the water and intense training pushed me to compete in several triathlons, including a thrilling half Ironman! After that, I had the opportunity to become the assistant coach for The Woodlands Waves for two incredible years. Now, I’m a 5th-grade teacher in The Woodlands, and I couldn’t be more excited to be coaching with my Otter family. Let’s make a splash together!

Isabella McBurnett

I did competitive swimming from 2016-2023 and was a varsity swimmer and water polo player all 4 years of high school. I was raised out in Cut and Shoot Texas and love the country life with everything in me. (You will get to hear my southern twang for sure.) My husband and I moved out to the Woodlands last year and recently married in Willis on March 21st! I have been a lifeguard for over four years, and I have my lifeguard instructor certification to certify others in CPR, first aid, AED, and lifeguarding skills. Last year, I also added my Certified Pool Operator’s license. I currently work full-time at the CISD Natatorium, and this is my first year as an assistant swim coach for the Otters. I grew up loving swimming and being in the water at a very young age. I recall begging my grandparents to put the above-ground pool up in February when it was freezing outside. I adore little ones and am excited to work with them this season! My main priority is to keep your little ones safe and protected and to have tons of fun!
